About Montezuma

Situated on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, Montezuma was a small remote fishing village until the 1980’s when it began to gain a reputation for being an ideal budget location for the nearby areas of the Cabo Blanco National Park, Isla Tortuga and the Curu Wildlife Reserve. Across from Montezuma, on the other side of the Gulf, you can see the mainland of Costa Rica. Taxi boats are available to take you over to the beach town of Jaco, 50 km from Montezuma.

Montezuma is also known for its large beautiful waterfall just outside of town. The waterfall is over 50 feet tall and it is a popular place for tourists to jump into the pool that the water falls into.
